Whahahaha… went looking on youtube for some Pixar™ stuff for a project, and found this one. It’s hilarious.
Sphere: Related ContentWTF? Yeah, well that was my response to the person who told me about the existence of ecology on the internet. As far as I know the internet is one of the most energy-insufficient things there is; millions of servers; websites that run on them and hardly ever have a single visitor? Ok, there are a few websites that have quite a few visitors; but what to think of those pages on the net that hardly anyone ever visits? They all run on servers, and most of them are quite energy insufficient…
So Ecology on the internet? What about it?
It exists. If you have a homepage that is visited regularly and you have a black background (not gray or dark blue, but plain black) you could be the proud owner of a energy-saving site already… The idea is based on the fact that every pixel on the screen needs to be lit in order to produce white light and thus use up a lot of energy. The other way around is true as well: a black website doesn’t need a pixel being lit up in order to render the background and thus saving energy. Strange? Not quite, in fact if Google (you know, the famous search-engine) would use a black background, it’s estimated that worldwide they could save up to 15kW of power each day, which is significant…
I’m not saying google is to blaim because you can easily make an HTML page with a black google search-bar in it (will try and do that on this stie as well); but there already is a site for eco-nerds available if they want to go for it right away: Blackle. It’s using the Google search-engine, but with a twist: searchbar and resultpages are all black and gray…
I don’t feel a need to abandon my google page so all of a sudden, but hey, if someone is inspired; feel free ![]()
Ok, sometimes even the most fervent internet diggers like myself need a little break. And what better way then one of the many thousands of mini-games to be found on the internet?
I personally like to play a game named “Onslaught”, a so called tower-defense game. Your goal is to protect Area 51 with many weapons and, ofcourse, upgrades available on those weapons.
It’s a very adictive game I might add. I can spend many hours whils being online in SL, and upgrading all the turrets and creating combo’s (some towers in combination with others create new weapons). It is of-course the challenge to reach level 500+, Something i almost managed a couple of weeks ago, but never reached again. However, I do not give up hope for this excellent little game…
OK, enough about online entertainment this time, I hope I can find another game soon that will entertain you (the readers of this blog) and me for a few hours to come.

I’ve finally made it passed level 500… To level 523 to be precise. On to the 550 Levels barrier…
Wanna see a real good comic that you don’t have to buy? Go and visit Ctrl+Alt+Del. The one and only webcomic that is so funny, You’ll wet your pants…
I’ve seen a lot of comics, most of them are like 1frame or 2-4 frames, but this one is an ACTUAL comic about several Nerdy characters:
- Ethan - If you looked up ‘Video Game Addict’ in the dictionary…. well, you wouldn’t find anything. It’s not in there. But if it was, Ethan’s picture would almost certainly accompany it. His fanaticism concerning video games is the stuff of legends. He still attends a bi-monthly support group as a result of his Everquest addiction, of which he is three years clean. Ethan is a talented artist, but would rather procrastinate while playing video games than pursue the career he dreams about; creating video games. He also has a penchant for large quantities of alcohol that usually astounds people in the vicinity. He chalks it up to his Irish blood and artistic nature.
- Lucas - Lucas could be described as down to earth, and level headed, though extremely sarcastic and cynical. The counter-weight to Ethan’s eccentrics, if you will. But in truth, he only appears this way when compared to Ethan. Lucas is a slacker at heart, and is always more than ready to choose a game of Halo 2 deathmatch over any activity that promotes energy expenditure and productivity. While he fancies himself an amateur artist, Lucas’ true skills lie in programming, and the coding aspects of computers. Like Ethan, he also one day hopes to be on a video game design company, but has yet to enter the field on any mod teams.
- Lilah - Shattering the age-old myth that girls don’t play video games, Lilah enjoys a LAN party as much as the next guy. She’s smart and beautiful, with a passion for a good first-person shooter. She quickly captured Ethan’s attention, and though she is much more calm and responsible than he is, she finds herself inexplicably drawn to Ethan’s silly, carefree personality. Despite some bad past experiences with boyfriends, and guys in general, she has let herself trust Ethan, and they have been dating for over a year now. After their separate apartments burned down, Ethan and Lilah took the next step and moved in together. They are now engaged to be married. Lilah is attempting to make a living as a professional gamer, after coming in third in her very first tournament. The catch is that she games her best when she’s mad at Ethan over something. It’s her secret weapon, so to speak, a fact that Ethan is still oblivious to. Lilah enjoys long walks between dungeons in her favorite RPG’s, romantic fragging by the glow of plasma rifle discharge, and sensitive… analogs.
And a lot of other characters worth looking at…
I can recommend everyone to have a look at it, and if you have time, start at the very first comics and see the comic develop to the ultimate comic for computer freaks ![]()
